Illusions of Immortality Illusions of Immortality

huh

I kinda remember the first few episodes of this on the Awful Link of the Day on somethingawful.
This flash is a vast improvement over those. Do you think you can put the old ones up, if you still have them? They were terrible, but hilarious. You've really come a long way. I mean, this isn't great, but still. Good job.

Great!

I really like the style this was done in. The lines, the timing, the names, everything was fucking spot on.
Also, the fact that Herkulor is wearing daisy dukes makes this about ten times funnier.

It's kinda generic.

The animation runs smoothly, and the artwork is well-polished.

The only problems I have with this is the style you draw in. It's the "anime" style. it's really, really overdone. But, to each his own, I guess.

Lack of yeti ruins the game

While this is a GREAT tribute to SkiFree, it's nowhere near as good, for the simple fact that there is no yeti. While I thought I would have more fun without the Yeti, I quickly realized that the Yeti was important.

You really need to finish this

Ever since I first played this, I've wanted a full version. Seven years later, I'd still kill to have one. The quirky humor still makes me laugh more than half a decade later. The graphics somehow held up extremely well over seven years. I know there's almost no chance you'll ever finish this, but it would really be great. I doubt you have the .fla file any more, but, hey, maybe you can start from scratch?
Thanks for reading.

Hi Lovecraft, your review was a nice read. Glad you still like it after all these years! I can't really imagine working on this game again, but maybe I should do a short point and click adventure with good old Ben, just for the heck of it. I don't think I have the same sense of humor as I did 7 years ago though, so I can't promise that you'd like it :) For one thing, I would definitely skip 95% of the 'A Clockwork Orange' references in the dialogue...

Very good

This is very good. Has a Slayer-esque feel to it (South of Heaven-era).
Pros: The guitar tone is very good. Very clean. I'm guessing you used a Marshall Half-Stack, either a JCM800 or JCM800KK.
Drums are tight.
Vocals are pretty good, and fit the song.
Cons: Vocals sound a bit "dry". Don't add too much depth on the song. Still very listenable, though.
I'd speed up the tempo a bit. It's a bit slow at parts for a thrash song. Don't change the riffs, just the tempo. Vocals can stay the same, kinda adding a slower overlay to a fast riff.

Not cons, but tips for a second draft of the song (if you decide to do it):Throw some pinch harmonics in there, on the opening riff.
At around 2:28, I'd add a drum fill.

That's about it.
